Patterns & Motifs
Body (Butis)
Scattered throughout the body of the kurta and dupatta are delicate, spaced out Jamdani floral and dot motifs (bootis or butidar), woven in silver white or muted zari thread.
Borders & Hemline (Jhalar / Floral Vine)
The hem of both the kurta and dupatta displays prominent, dense floral motifs depicting leafy stems and blooming flowers.
Running horizontally above the hem are woven zari/metallic stripes that provide a defined finish to the floral border.
Material & Handweaving Process
Fabric Base: Lightweight, breathable Jamdani cotton/silk cotton blend with a crisp yet soft drape and subtle natural slubs, characteristic of handloom weaving.
Color: Rich indigo blue, reminiscent of naturally plant dyed indigo textiles.
Handweaving Craft (Jamdani Weave)
Discontinuous Weft Technique: Jamdani is a supplementary weft technique of handweaving. The floral motifs are created directly on the loom by hand using small spools (shuttles) of thread, inserting the white design thread alongside the main indigo warp and weft.
Look & Feel: Unlike prints or machine embroidery, Jamdani motifs are woven directly into the fabric structure itself, making the patterns appear embedded with a semi-sheer, soft finish on both sides of the garment. edit
